Sometimes, people ask me, “What did you like better, the book or the movie?”
Sometimes to get their goat I’ll say, “The movie. It actually IMPROVED on the book.” After their jaw hits the floor they’ll ask, “And how is that, exactly?” and I’ll respond, “Because it only took an hour and a half and I didn’t have to read anything.”
Now, I don’t generally think movies improve on books, but I strongly believe there are advantages to video content versus written content.
Video marketing is one of the best ways to effectively communicate your personality to your audience. All too often a company decides to primarily build its message around written content. It’s not as easy to capture who you are with words as a video presentation. And even with blogs, photos, and other tricks, there’s no guarantee that your viewer will connect with you. Especially if you have a horrible writer like me.
Not the case with video. With video, it’s all right there and you’re engaging the viewer on multiple levels. They can see and hear you, connecting them with your message. You can appeal to their feelings and you can make them feel happy, sad, or excited. At the end of the day, you have a better chance at gaining trust from your audience.
Can you imagine trying to capture that brand personality with just text?
